ampersand

Brunk ampersand Brunk. It's the name of this blog. It's very meaningful, of course.

The original idea came from the thought that the blog would be a joint effort by me and my husband (two big brunks) and that we would be blogging about our twins (two baby brunks).

So we continue sharing our family here, with Matt posting pictures while I scrawl random thoughts and  stories about motherhood.

Since we started the blog, I've fallen in love with the ampersand. The quaint character that symbolizes, for me, love.

To me, it's about together. It's about joining. It's about connection. It's about with. All things that I value about being alive. All things I hope my children will someday value as well. To love themselves and others well. To love God, the ultimate picture of with.

Awhile back, Matt created the new blog logo to incorporate the ampersand more creatively. And I actually changed the blog name to brunk ampersand brunk.

It's just become the perfect symbol of our family.

And oh how I do love the ampersand...

Here are some recent favorites:

This pretty watercolor looking one.
This cool one is an ampersand turned on its side and it looks like a heart...!
The one that shows everything you love.
This one is so COOL.

Anyway, I love them. And as of February 17th, I have even more reason to love them. Actually a very incredible reason...

We are going to be brunk ampersand brunk ampersand brunk ampersand brunk ampersand brunk! (translation: I'm pregnant again!)

The most wild part about this is that the girls are just going to be one this very weekend. For fun, here are some pictures of me about a year ago...

Only just one year ago I was about to deliver TWO amazing babies. And now I'm 14 weeks along with another little ampersand. So much love. So so much!

I'm due in late October...

Here are a couple more absolutely gorgeous ampersands to celebrate being a mama...

Matt gave me this as a congratulations gift... L O V E it.
This makes me think of a year ago...two babies growing at once...I think this one is my very favorite. I'd like to get a print for the babies room...

This makes me think of now...one baby growing inside. Together.

Finally, you might get a laugh out of watching Matt tell the girls about the baby, taken about 3 months ago. The best part is when Charlotte gives a little "bob dole" style thumbs up at the end! She approves!

I remember that woman a year ago. She was on the precipice of something really big. And wonderful. And she has grown into one of the most beautiful, loving mamas I know. You ABSOLUTELY should be having more babies!!!!! Love you. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

  7. Congratulations, Lorissa! What a special time. I'll blame my mommy brain, but I had to look up "ampersand"...DUH. Seriously. Obviously I've never given that little symbol much thought, but now when I see one, I'll think of you and of your lovely thoughts on it. My favorites are the twin one and the mama and baby. So precious!
