Ha!
It can feel like the most bizzarre repeat of life. The babies eat every two hours during the day and it takes about 15-30 minutes to feed them. Then they are awake for about an hour and then they sleep for about 30-45 minutes and we start the whole thing over again. It's a little bit like the twilight zone. I often think to myself, "didn't we just do this?" Haha.
We are supplementing the girl's feedings with formula and this equals LOTS of bottles. I secretly attempt to avoid the repetitive task of washing them, hoping Matt will do it instead. (but, that doesn't usually work...)
We are using cloth diapers (thank goodness!) and the extra load of laundry isn't a huge deal, but it definitely plays into the feeling of being stuck in baby twilight zone. Cold rinse, hot wash, 90 minutes in the dryer on low and... again! I can hear the voice of my childhood piano teacher when I was practicing something to get it perfect...again! again! again! I guess we are going to get reeeeaaally good at this. Ha.
When Matt is home during the days, we usually get out for a nice sunny and hot walk around noon. For whatever reason this is the earliest we can organize ourselves. Hahaha.
I usually don't know quite what day it is and I've started saying those "Mom" kinds of sayings where I mix up the words or mistakenly call things by the wrong name all together and I'm forced to describe things with synonyms because I can't think of the word I really want to use. HAhahaha.
In other words, it didn't take me long to realize that I would never make it as a mom without a full on sense of humor for each day.
And let's face it, it's pretty funny.
Now, all together: "Peat and Repeat were on a boat. Peat fell off and who was left? Repeat! Peat and Repeat were on a boat...."
Ahh the synonyms...I try to play it off like I'm just being a creative thinker, describing whatever it is in a more complex way. Ok, so that's what I tell myself. Everyone sees right through it! Yes, Groundhog Day is a great picture of motherhood at times. :)
ReplyDeleteAt 10.5 months, I still have days like that. Mostly though I just have days where I can't find words for things and end up saying "you know, the thing? that does the other thing? and it's up on the place? over there? in the kitchen?" We have gotten better about getting up and motivated, but it definitely took us several months to get there. and a kiddo who refuses to sleep past 6.
